Response to FIND ME

I definitely like this book better than the other books I was reading for this class. Find Me is not as confusing as The Woman Warrior. It is easier to understand and relate to since it is about issues around me. I like the fact that there is a little bit of mystery in the book. It is bizarre but interesting at the same time. The part that stands out to me the most is chapter11. When O'Donnell writes down all the facts she knows about Stacie. I feel like it is a break from the book, to slow down and have a sort of review for the reader of what has happened in the book.

I agree, Sandra, about the sort of mystery aspect of the book. I like how she builds suspense in telling the story.

i like how she explains why she is so interested in stacie and she is so honest and real about it. she really feels for her and i like how she draws connections to her own past and life.

In the begining i was not looking foward to reading this book, i thought i wasnt going to be interested in it. i was totally wrong, this book is very my type and i really enjoy reading it. i like hearing about Rosies feelings and personal stories. i also like this book, because it doesnt require a lot of thinking, its just straight foward and easy to read.

After reading till page 111 in Find Me, I think that so far this book seems to be a very original way to write a memoir. Although one would think it would be confusing to read a book that is not in chronological order, this book is pretty clear. The author, Rosie O'Donnell, keeps referring to the past, especially when she was a child, telling of certain instances that she remembers. These stories are scattered throughout the text, but tell us more about the author and let us know what kind of childhood she had, to grow up to be the overly helpful adult she presently is. What stood out for me the most was the last line in Chapter 20: "This has all been a hoax." This part was extremely ironic; I had not expected it at all. The characters of Stacie, and her mom, Barbara, seemed genuine to me, and I was very surprised to learn, at the end of Chapter 20, that Rosie had been deceived by them. All in all, this book is unique and quite easy to understand and so far, I am enjoying it very much.

reading rosie's book was fun and interesting. i liked how the author brought you into her thoughts and you could acxtually invision the mental processes that are happening in her brain. the book is more about her personal thoughts than the actual story. i liked it. you really get to see what kind of person Rosie is. the story is also interesting but seems a little strange. it almost as if it is fictional.

I didn't finish the book yet, but i love what I've read so far. Maybe it's because I like personal stories/memoirs and getting to learn the story of why people are the way they are, but, whatever the reason, this book helps me to view Rosie as way more than a loud mouthed comedian, but as just a regular person with a story, just like everyone else in the world.

I AM REALLY ENJOYING READING THIS BOOK. I THINK THE TOPIC IS VERY INTERESTING. I DEFINITLY LIKE IT BETTER THEN ANY OTHER BOOK WE READ SO FAR. I FIND IT VERY INTRIGUING HOW ROSIE SKIPS FROM THE PRESENT TO THE PAST THROUGHOUT THE CHAPTERS. IT ALLOWS ONE TO BE CURIOUS ABOUT WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT WITH STACIE FORCING THEM TO READ MORE. I LOVE THE FACT THAT THE BOOK IS ABOUT ISSUES THAT SORROUND OUR EVERYDAY LIVES. WHATS SO CRAZY FOR ME IS THAT THE TOPIC FOR MY RESEARCH PAPER IS ABORTION AND THIS BOOK IS SORROUNDING THAT IN SOME RESPECT, SO I FEEL LIKE IT APPLIES TO ME IN SOME WAY.

This book is an easy. It is pretty straight foward. Different from the other books we have read. I think is was a good book to finish with. I liked how some of the chapters were so short. I enjoy the mystery aspect. I also like how the story feels so real. It is also interesting since Rosie is so famous, to get an inside look into her mind.

I was a little confused about why Rosie focused so much on Stacie when this was an autobiography. It seemed like she was trying to write in Kincaid's style with the contradictions and repetitions, but I don't think she succeeded in giving it the same effect as Kincaid did in -My Brother. Kincaid made the readers feel the confusion and brought the readers to the same state of mind that she was in. I didn't feel that with Rosie's book, but maybe she wasn't going for that effect. All in all, Find Me was interesting and enjoyable.
